On Wednesday afternoon Lazio Coach Edy Reja sent a fax to club President Claudio Lotito offering his resignation. At the moment it is understood that Lotito has rejected this according to Sky Sport Italia.

Reja has travelled with the squad to Madrid for the second leg of their Europa League tie but many believe this maybe the Tactician’s last game in charge of the Biancoceleste.

“Reja presented his resignation, but the club rejected it so nothing has changed. When we return to Rome, everyone will make their evaluations“ Announced Director of Communications Stefano Di Martino.

Rumour’s have been arising all day in the capital and it is believed that Reja has had an altercation with Director of Sport Igli Tare about his failure to produce in the recent mercato.

Lazio have lost two of their last three games in Serie A and whilst suffering a humiliating defeat to Palermo last weekend it is understood Lotito and Tare had questioned the coaches tactical decisions.

When Reja was asked if his players had been affected by the news he said “The lads have always given their all regardless of who was in charge. They play for the club and the Lazio colours. Since I’ve been here, they have always given the maximum effort. In my view that is important, and should be underlined.”

Reja hasn’t yet clarified his situation so it is certainly going to be an anxious wait in the coming days for the fans to see whether he will stay on as Lazio coach, or cut ties with the Biancocelesti for good.
