After Lazio’s win in the weekends Derby della Capitale, Director of sport Igli Tare gave an interview to TuttoMercatoWeb here is what he told them.

Tare, how does it taste to win the derby?

“It is an important victory for our image and our place in the table.”

Is everything fine in the house of Lazio now?

“Whenever something like this happens, there is a reaction. Fortunately it was for the better. We are happy and everyone is united. We have to play the final twelve matches, and there are many points on the table. Anything can happen, and we must not let our guard down, but only think about Bologna now, a tough opponent.”

Tell me the truth, do you consider Lazio to be favourites for 3rd place?

“No, absolutely not. There are so many teams fighting for third place, even Roma. In twelve matches anything can happen, we need to stay focused.”

Are Lazio stronger then Roma?

“Hehe, I will let other people talk about that.”

One of your stengths is that you have an experienced coach in Reja, unlike Roma?

“Reja is proving that he can do a great job, the facts are clear. But Luis Enrique is also good. He will be one of the best coaches in the future. Reja has understood what is important, and have been able to motivate the players.”

Let us move to England, Chelsea just sacked Andre Villas Boas, and let Di Matteo take over, a coach that has been linked to Lazio. Did you ever consider him to replace Reja?

“As for Villas Boas, I can not talk about a story I do not know. I can say that we never thought about Di Matteo. He is under contract with another club, and we are not interested.”

In a couple months the mercato will open. Will Mauro Zarate return to Lazio?

“Until June he is a Inter player, and should only be treated like that.”

Ok, but do you agree that it will be difficult to sell him?

“It is not difficult, because we are talking about a great champion.”

Finally, Inter are considering to give Roberto Baggio a chance on the bench. Is he ready to coach?

“Roberto is a champion in world football. His absence is football is noticed, but I am not sure if he wants to coach. I am not sure how he will cope with the stress every day. Of course it would be great, but I do not think he is likely to return to football and step in to the shoes of coaching.”
