Roma’s Brazilian defender Juan has rejected media claims that he will be returni homeland at the end of the season and rejoining his old club Flamengo.

The 33-year-old centre-back, who began his career with Flamengo, has recently been linked with a transfer back to the Rio-based giants after losing his regular starting place for the Giallorossi this season.

Juan enjoyed massive success with Flamengo and was part of the side that lifted three consecutive Championships between 1999 – 2001 and it is reported that he would like to see out his career back where it all started.

However, Juan has moved quickly to dismiss the rumours and advised that he is 100 per cent committed to Roma and is not looking to leave.

“I have not spoken with anyone, much less with Flamengo. These are just rumours that have appeared in Brazil,” Juan explained according to Globoesporte.

“My priority is Roma, and I am training to recover from injury as soon as possible.”
