Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti has hit back at rumours linking coach Vincenzo Montella with a return to Roma claiming he will remain with the Sicilian club.

The former Giallorossi coach ended last season at boss at the Lupi but was replaced in the summer by Luis Enrique, who is expected to leave the post at the end of the season.

However with reports linking Montella with a return to the Stadio Olimpico, Pulvirenti has claimed he wont be going anywhere.

“I’ve heard so much talk but I have doubts [about these reports] because Montella has another year of contract with us,” he told Sky Sport 24.

“Knowing him, he would not have spoken with anyone, just like the Roma directors, who are also reliable people, would not have talked to a coach still under contract.

“In short, this story is far-fetched and, for me, Catania are already a big club. In my opinion, we are even superior to Roma.

“So, Montella will be the coach again next year. At the end of the season we will plan for the future; the rest is mere posturing.”
