Fiorentina have fired coach Delio Rossi following Wednesday evening’s bust-up in the dugout with Adem Ljajic.

The midfielder appeared to sarcastically applaud his boss after being taken off as a substitute in the first half, which prompted the surprise response from Rossi, a response that has now seen him lose his job.

La Viola hononery president Andrea Della Valle spoke to Sky Sport Italia on conclusion of their match with Novara: “I saw the pictures of what happened on the bench when replacing Ljajic end of the match. I made ??the decision to dismiss the tactician [Rossi], as his actions were serious.

“Tomorrow morning we’ll talk calmly. I have spoken to Rossi, I’m sorry for the coach, he is a good person and does not deserve it, but tonight he made ??a huge mistake.”
