Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini admits that the future of the under-fire coach Luis Enrique will be evaluated at the end of the season.

The ambitious Roman club are having a less than satisfying season with inconsistent form and Tuesday night’s draw with Chievo ended their hopes of playing Champions League next season.

“In football you should evaluate everything and we will do that. But we will wait until the end of the championship, which is in 10 days’ time.” Sabatini told Sky Sport Italia.

However, Sabatini has faith in the abilities of the former Barcelona B coach despite the fact that Enrique thinks he has not received so much approval and that is weighing down the team.

“We continue to hope that he will remain because we know that he can produce great results as he is an honest, loyal, committed and competent man,” the 56-year-old Italian added.

“However, he must evaluate his situation and make the right decision also for his family. His uncertainty is determined by the fact that he thinks he has not received so much approval, and that this is weighing down the team.”

The Lupi’s draw in Verona leaves them seventh in the championship with just two games remaining, and six points behind third-place Napoli.
