Fiorentina patron Diego Della Valle has announced he could put the club up for sale after recent skirmishes with fans.

Della Valle and his brother Andrea have been victim to repeated insults and were forced to leave the stands during matches because of abuse from the supporters.

Speaking to news agency ANSA he discussed, “It’s time to reflect on whether it makes sense or not to invest in a football club when groups of violent fans, of ‘idiots,’ are destroying the most beautiful sport in the world.”

“I spoke to my brother Andrea this evening and told him I don’t know if it makes sense to invest in football that is going through such a disastrous situation.

“He thinks with the heart of a supporter, but football can be a wonderful thing, a vehicle for just sentiments that can be transmitted to youth, as long as the rules are respected.”

These comments may spark concern with the Viola fans, as they are currently without a Coach or a Director of Sport.
