Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo has confirmed that the Milan outfit will open a series of football schools in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and other keys areas of the country.

“We are planning to build several football schools here,” club chief executive Ernesto Paolillo told reporters.

“Indonesia is very important for us because the country has a lot of Inter Milan fans,” he said, without giving further details of the plan.

The country of 240 million is estimated to have over 15 million Inter fans and should gain more should the youth system be successful.

The first team are currently in Jakarta where they will take on an Indonesian all-star team in a friendly as part of the promotion.

Captain Javier Zanetti told local reporters, “It’s the first time I’ve been to this country and it’s a real honour.

“Thank you for the warmth you’ve [Indonesian people] shown. It’s been a tough season but we hope to make our fans happy, at least over the next few days.”
