Today’s highlights…

Fiorentina are stepping up their summer activity in the transfer market as they are this week set to confirm the signing of Boca Juniors defender Facundo Roncaglia with the player flying to Florence to agree personal terms.

They could also be close to signing Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh who has fallen out of favour at the London club and is interested in the move.

The Viola could have their resolve for keeping their attacking talents tested though with Juventus being linked strongly with a move for playmaker Stevan Jovetic while city rivals Torino are looking to bring in his teammate Adem Ljajic.

Toro are certainly assessing all options with Sergio Floccari also a target after the club look set to lose out on Catania striker Maxi Lopez who is adamant that his future lies elsewhere.

One signing the Granata have completed is that of young defender Marco Migliorini who joins the club from Chieti of the Lega Pro.

However, it seems unlikely that they will be able to tempt former frontman Alberto Gilardino to return to the club from Genoa with the Grifone eager to keep ‘Gila’ after already losing Rodrigo Palacio to Inter.

Genoa are intent on strengthening their squad too though as they are looking to bring Roma’s Andrea Bertolacci in after he greatly impressed on loan at Lecce last season.

Roma themselves look as though they will have to battle it out with city rivals Lazio for the signature of hot prospect Bruno Uvini from Sao Paulo.

Milan are looking to keep a hold of their big stars with star defender Thiago Silva saying that he will remain with the Rossoneri after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexandre Pato convinced him to remain.

Across the city though, while Inter have been strengthened with the signing of Matias Silvestre, they have not ruled out selling further players this summer following the exit of Lucio to Juventus with Diego Forlan confirming his switch from Inter to another as he joined Internacional.

Among those rumoured to be in the shop window for the Nerazzurri are midfielders Wesley Sneijder and Dejan Stankovic for the right price.

However, Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar will not be trading one side of the city for another after Adriano Galliani ruled out a move from his club for the Brazilian.

There has been double defensive good news for Cagliari this weekend when only a few days ago it seemed as though duo Davide Astori and Michele Canini could both be leaving the club.

Yet now it seems Astori is close to agreeing a new contract with the Rossoblu while they are also close to securing the signature of Brazilian defender Danilo Avelar from Karpaty Lviv.
