Today’s highlights…

Manchester City are refusing to give up in their pursuit of Roma midfield general Daniele De Rossi and are set to offer the Giallorossi an underwhelming €20m for the player’s signature.

Should Roma decide to cash in on the Italian international, it is believed that they will move to replace him with Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel and Benfica’s Axel Witsel.

A quiet day in the building Kaka story in terms of transfer activity maybe, but it has been livened up by news that Antonio Nocerino has swapped his number 22 jersey with the club to take Gennaro Gattuso’s number 8 jersey thus freeing up the Brazilian’s old number.

However, reports are today circulating that Jose Mourinho has called on Inter president Massimo Moratti to line up a possible shock swap deal with Douglas Maicon moving to the Bernabeu and Kaka returning to Milan, but not to play for the club where he made his name.

The Nerazzurri look like they could be set to miss out on Sao Paolo star Lucas Moura though with the player preferring to stay rather than join the Italian giants or Manchester United.

Julio Cesar looks set to leave the club too and it is believed Inter and Arsenal officials could be set to meet in the coming days to discuss a possible transfer.

Juventus also continue to be linked with the continent’s biggest stars this summer and although their acquisition of Pablo Armero from Udinese is not going as they would like they have already lined up possible alternatives in former Lazio defender Aleksandar Kolarov and Lyon’s Aly Cissokho.

Napoli could be in for a fight if they are to keep midfielder Walter Gargano as Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic are the latest to be linked with a move for his services.

Although it is understood that the mugging of Edinson Cavani’s wife in Naples has not affected the player’s willingness to remain with the Partenopei as his agent has put it down to an unfortunate incident.

Zenit St Petersburg now look keen to take the mantle of signing Serie A stars from Paris Saint Germain as they are lining up a move for a trio of Genoa players.

Alberto Gilardino, Alexander Merkel and Andreas Granqvist are all now wanted by the Russian club.

Cesare Natali has signed on with Bologna once more after the 33-year-old defender’s contract with Fiorentina expired and they are not finished there as they now hope to swoop in and beat Besiktas to the signing of Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina.

The agent of Palermo midfield man Massimo Donati has hinted that his player would have been open to a move to Atalanta but the Rosanero are not open to selling him.

President Maurizio Zamparini has opened up on the future of left back Federico Balzaretti stating that the future of the player lies with either Napoli or Roma who have now joined the chase for the player.

Fiorentina look to at last be close to completing the deal that will see goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano arrive from Palermo via a contractual dispute with Inter and it is believed he will join on an initial loan move with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

Torino too have been busy and are now closing in on the signing of Salvatore Masiello from Napoli.
