Today’s highlights…

The transfers of Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint Germain are not progressing at the rate the French club would have hoped.

Although an offer has been accepted for both players, negotiations are still ongoing between the Swede’s agent and PSG sporting director Leonardo with the parties yet to reach an agreement over the striker’s wages.

However, the club have not even began discussing a contract with the Brazilian who has not underwent a medical yet and his agent says that the deals for both players are not dependent on the other leaving.

The French side are also still attempting to negotiate the transfer of Pescara’s 19-year-old midfielder Marco Verratti although Milan and Juventus are still thought to be interested.

Milan have already started looking for replacements for Ibrahimovic should the transfer be confirmed with Adriano Galliani’s first choice believed to be Carlos Tevez with Massimiliano Allegri’s preferred target his teammate Edin Dzeko although they are also now being linked with a move for Arsenal’s wantaway striker Robin Van Persie.

One transfer that has been confirmed is that of Roma striker Fabio Borini who has joined Liverpool on a long-term contract for a fee that is undisclosed as yet.

Having lost a promising young Italian striker, the Giallorossi are set to replace him with a similar player as they edge closer to wrapping up a deal for Mattia Destro.

Juventus are also stepping up their transfer activity after completing the signing of 18-year-old Danish midfielder Jacob Laursen from Aalborg following a successful trial.

They are also believed to be stepping up their efforts in signing wingers Adriano from Barcelona and Pablo Armero from Udinese.

The Bianconeri are also close to confirming the sale of Reto Ziegler who is on the verge of a move to Benfica in the hope of gaining first team football.

Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami could be on the way out of the Artemio Franchi with Napoli very interested in taking him to the San Paolo.

The Partenopei’s Walter Gargano has been linked with a move though with Galatasaray the likeliest destination for him should he choose to leave.

Genoa are eyeing up a move for Catania’s creative attacker Pablo Barrientos who has yet to sign a new contract with the Sicilian side.

Lazio’s Matuzalem has pledged his future to the club by insisting he wants to stay despite being placed on the transfer list.

That is in contrast to Roma midfielder David Pizarro who is angling for a move back to South America this summer and he could be joined by teammate Juan who is close to completing a move to Internacional.

Fiorentina have completed the signing of goalkeeper Cristiano Lupatelli but are still expected to negotiate the transfer of Emiliano Viviano to act as their first choice net minder.

Cagliari have tied down Davide Astori until 2015 in an attempt to dissuade Milan from making a move for the player and the new deal also sees him gain a considerable wage hike.

Francesco Valiani has joined Siena on a three year deal from Parma who have finalised the loan signing of Ignacio Fideleff from Napoli.
