Today’s highlights…

Milan and Juventus are both looking so strengthen defensively this week with the Bianconeri having identified Salvatore Bocchetti of Rubin Kazan as a prime target in the event that Leo Bonucci is sidelined by the betting trial.

They are also believed to be very keen on Cagliari’s Davide Astori.

However, the San Siro outfit have now officially ruled out the signing of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa after Adriano Galliani conceded that the signing is a lost cause due to Montpellier’s consistent reluctance to sell the centre back.

It is not clear as yet who they will now turn to in an attempt to strengthen although Kolo Toure is being touted as a replacement for Thiago Silva.

Reports emerging today that Juve are set to do business with the other Milan side and, in 10 days time, will attempt to push through a swap deal for Giampaolo Pazzini and Fabio Quagliarella.

The Nerrazzuri could also be set to lose out on Douglas Maicon to,  as you may have guessed, Paris Saint Germain, who are set to table an offer after Real Madrid’s interest waned.

Lazio are readying themselves for a busy week in the mercato as they are hoping to bring in Davide Santon and Andreas Granqvist to attempt to keep up with their city neighbours who have remained busy.

The Biancocelesti will also sell Sergio Floccari to either Napoli or Siena while they have been left furious after Manchester City signed 17-year-old left back Nicolae Marin from their youth system.

Having sent Jose Angel on loan to Real Sociedad, Roma are close to bringing in Romanian youngster Claudiu Bumba on an initial loan deal with the right to buy the player outright.

Fiorentina have also been very busy this summer and their activity could increase further as they have contacted Galatasaray regarding the availability of Emmanuel Eboue although they could be set to sell Juan Manuel Vargas after they offered the winger to Zenit St Petersburg.

The Turkish club though are still very much interested in bringing Walter Gargano to the club.

Should he leave the Partenopei, they will move to replace him in midfield by signing 20-year-old River Plate star Ezequiel Cirigliano.

Parma are preparing alternatives should they miss out on bringing in Aleandro Rosi and will move to take Antonio Balzano of Pescara to the club.

The Serie A new boys have been busy themselves though having signed for Palermo defender Christian Terlizzi on a two-year deal.

The Rosanero are also ready to make an assault on Atalanta to sign defender Federico Peluso.

Not to be left out of all the activity, Sampdoria are also close to completing the signing of Sporting Braga goalkeeper Tommaso Berni who has already begun training with the Blucerchiati.

Finally, Napoli have trimmed their squad by sending Erwin Hoffer out on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt while Luigi Vitale has joined Ternana.
