Today’s highlights…

Juventus’ assault on Athletic Bilbao over the future of Fernando Llorente has begun with club insiders readying an initial bid of €16m.

Beppe Marotta seems confident that the club will be able to sign the Spaniard and will continue to monitor the player’s situation closely.

The Bianconeri’s talks with goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon over a new deal and a potential pay-cut are set to take place this week as will the deal bringing Manolo Gabbiadini from Atalanta although Felipe Melo has joined Galatasaray.

Inter’s chase of Nigel De Jong has yielded mixed result so far with Manchester City stating that they are willing to sell the Dutchman to the Nerazzurri but his wage demands are proving to be a stumbling block so far.

Massimo Moratti’s side are also interested in Lille’s Mathieu Debuchy which has only added to rumours that he will be brought in as a replacement for Douglas Maicon should he depart although Alvaro Perreira who is also a massive target for Napoli.

Reports are also suggesting that the club have edged closer to the signing of Arsenal’s Theo Walcott after Arsene Wenger approved the sale.

As are the wage requests of Roma’s Marco Borriello who is now looking for a move abroad after no Italian side showed interest in meeting his demands and the Premier League is now believed to be his preferred destination.

Milan have all but conceded defeat in their attempts to bring Kaka back to San Siro after mercato expert Ernesto Bronzetti said that there was a “0.01% chance” that he would join the Rossoneri.

This could be a busy week for Lazio as they are set for showdown talks with Modibo Diakite over a move away from the Olimpico and are now searching for replacements.

The Biancocelesti are also set to strengthen in the final third of the pitch and are hopeful of bringing €7m striker Mohammed Abdellaoue from Hannover 96.

Bologna will be forced to fend off fresh interest from England in Gaston Ramirez after Southampton have surprisingly joined the race to try and tempt him away from the Rossoblu.

Fiorentina’s revitalised midfield is now filled with stars following their exploits this summer and it seems that some players will have to depart, one of whom is Andrea Lazzari who has been told he can leave for a bid of €5m.

The future of Napoli’s Eduardo Vargas is now in doubt after the club insisted they do not want to loan him out to anyone but are still interested in bringing one or both of Rolando Bianchi and Sergio Floccari to the San Paolo.

Parma’s defence could be bolstered this week as Roberto Donadoni identified transfer targets in Felipe and Alexis Rolin.

Finally, Pro Vercelli have joined Vicenza and Spezia in the race to sign Atalanta striker Simone Tiribocchi who has turned down a move to the MLS.
