Name: Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia – Formally Stadio Mario Brumana (1928–1945)

Location: Viale Caio Giulio Cesare, Bergamo

Built: 1928

Capacity: 24,642

The Stadio Atleti Azzurri D’italia is in Bergamo, and is used by two clubs, as both Atalanta and Albinoleffe use the ground for sporting uses.

The ground was opened in 1928, and has since then seen no renovations or refurbishments.

Many consider the Atleti to be below par for Serie A, citing poor visibility and a lack of roof cover as proof.

Over the last decade, work towards a project was considered, but nothing materialised. The latest movements for a project were February 2010, but nothing has come of it.

The Gentleman Ultra says…

The ground is often referred to as a relic of Mussolini’s Italy and is now deemed to be fairly outdated. With no roof and some obstructed views there is no doubt that some modernisation would not go amiss.

This does not mean that the atmosphere in this stadium is in need of improvement, as Atalanta have some of the loudest and most loyal fans on the Penninusla. This is an away day that many opposing teams and fans to not like as the hostile reaction they receive makes the match a daunting prospect.

The Curva Nord holds the Brigate Neroazzure, Ultras Bergamo and The Atalanta Commandos, and they often choreograph displays that consist of flares, huge banner flags and fireworks. There may be bigger and better stadiums around Italy but there are few as inflammatory as this one can be on match day.
