Could anyone do a better job then Allegri with this AC Milan side?

To say AC Milan have had a turbulent recent time of it, would be a rather large understatement!

A summer transfer window that was more about the departures than the arrivals, has been followed by a poor start to their Serie A campaign (their worst since 1930 to be precise), leading to question marks over coach’s Massimiliano Allegri’s future at the club.

To get rid of a manager just three games into a new season would be slightly knee-jerk, not that it stopped their city rivals Inter, doing exactly that last year in sacking Gian Piero Gasperini; however Allegri has come in for the inevitable criticism that greets a manager when their club’s start is far from ideal.

When a club the size of AC Milan is reportedly considering a change of manager, rumours of who will take over are never far away, here is an assessment of the possible candidates and whether they could do a better job with a far from great Rossoneri side.

Filippo Inzaghi

Having enjoyed 11 successful years with the club it is almost inevitable that Inzaghi was going to be linked with the job, and when you consider he has just take

If the unlikely was to happen and Inzaghi were to taken over, it would be interesting if the changing rooms would see him as a manager or simply as one of their own, given the fact he only left the club in June.n his first footsteps into management, ironically with the club’s youth side, the idea isn’t entirely ridiculous. This AC Milan job isn’t for a rookie however, and I’m sure Inzaghi will take the reigns at the club at some point, but right now AC Milan need someone who has more experience!

Frank Rijkaard

A side from his stint at Barcelona, Rijkaard’s CV is far from inspiring.

Failure at Sparta Rotterdam, Galatasaray and the Saudi national side overshadow the success he had with the Catalan giants.

Many have said he only succeeded with Barcelona simply because of the standard of players at his disposal and when you consider the monumental distance in quality between this AC Milan side and the 2003-2008 one he had at Barcelona, it suggests that Rijkaard isn’t the man for the job.

There is the obvious urge to appoint a former playing legend; however he isn’t the right man to lead AC Milan at this particular time.

Mauro Tassotti

Having been with the club since 1980, be it as a player or in the coaching set up, it’s fair to say Tassotti knows the club like the back of his hand.

Tassotti would immediately earn respect within the changing rooms, simply because of his longevity at the club and when you consider the greatest club in the world in Barcelona has a policy of employing from within; AC Milan would be foolish not to consider Tassotti.

Granted his only previous managerial experience is with the AC Milan youth side, and therefore would be a gamble, the appointment of Tassotti could be what the club needs right now.

For now AC Milan should stick with their under-pressure manager because whoever comes in, isn’t going to lead them to the title, that’s out of the question, they simply aren’t good enough!

This year is very much a transition one for the Rossoneri and it was only 16 months ago that Allegri guided AC Milan to their first title in seven years, so AC Milan should stand by their man, for now at least!
