Argentinian defender Pablo Alvarez received the quickest sending off of the Serie A season, lasting only 89 seconds in the match between Napoli and Catania.

Marek Hamsik suggested the red card was the issue for Napoli not coming away with three points.

“The dismissal of Alvarez affected how the game was played,” the Slovakian noted. “We had the better of the possession, but Catania erected an insurmountable barricade.

“We had our chances to score in the 90 minutes, but they defended well and we were unable to get over their wall.”

Before the weekend the Neapolitan outfit was on three straight wins and tied atop the table with S.S. Lazio.
