Palermo manager Gian Piero Gasperini was very satisfied after his squad defeated Chievo Verona 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

He was pleased with the way his team handled the game, and especially striker Fabrizio Miccoli, who managed to score a hat-trick.

“It was a very important victory because of how it happened,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“Miccoli was extraordinary, not only for the goals, but for his contributions on the offensive side of the ball.”

“Psychologically, this victory is a wonderful boost of confidence.”

“It was anything but an easy match.  In the second half we were able to score two goals being down a man.”

He was asked what his Palermo squad is still missing,“On the defensive side of the ball, we played great all match.  There is concentration, and efficiency,” he said

“On the offensive side, however, we can still grow.  The characteristics are there.  We also have many young players, and if we give them encouragement, we can extract a lot of satisfaction.”

The manager also commented on the recent letting go of sporting director Giorgio Perinetti.  “Perinetti and [Pietro] Lo Monaco are two people that I know well.  There is a great mutual respect between them.  We all think about what’s best for the club.  At Palermo there is everything you need to do a good job.”

Palermo’s next match is Saturday, October 6 against Genoa.
