Tottenham Hotspur coach Andre Villas-Boas hopes that UEFA will take action against Lazio if allegations of racist chanting are proven.

Those claims were made following the sides 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane last night in which a number of Spurs players including Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Jermain Defoe were believed to have been the victims of alleged monkey chants from the visiting support.

When asked if he felt the governing body should weigh in on the matter, the former Porto coach said: “I think so because UEFA are very active on these kind of situations and the objective is to kick racism out of football.

“I cannot point the finger at anyone in any way tonight because I did not hear anything but it is for the authorities to follow up with an investigation.”

Last year, the Biancocelesti were fined €8,000 for racist chanting in a defeat to Inter while they were also accused last season of aiming similar insults towards Roma’s Juan in the Derby della Capitale.
