Fiorentina beat Bologna at the Stadio Artemio Franchi thanks to Stevan Jovetic’s early goal.

The match started in a lively fashion as Borja Valerio’s shot from outside the box was saved by Federico Agliardi in the third minute.

The Viola took an early lead in the seventh minute after Stevan Jovetic struck a right footed shot from close range to the center of the goal following a corner.

The Rossoblu were quick to react and Alessandro Diamanti’s long range attempt had to be blocked inside the box.

The game continued to provide action at both ends of the field. Panagiotis Kone misfired a shot from the center of the box and Stevan Jovetic missed a half chance to double the lead.

Facundo Roncaglia, Cesare Natali and Manuel Pasqual were yellow carded within a span of eight minutes.

In the dying minutes of the first half, Alessandro Diamanti looked increasingly sharp. In the 38th minute, his shot from the outside the box went wide but in the 42nd minute, his well hit left footed shot was saved by Federico Agliardi in the top right corner.

Bologna went into the second half trailing by a goal but failed to create any substantial chances in the opening minutes. Instead, Manuel Pasquale and Mattia Cassani teamed up for the Viola, coming close to scoring on two occasions.

Archimede Moreleo was replaced by Robert Acquafresca in the 58th minute but the Rossoblu continued to struggle.

Nenad Tomovic’s header went narrowly wide following a corner as Fiorentina continued to look more likely to score.

Frederik Sorensen replaced Cesare Natali, who seemed to be injured in the 68th minute.

The Gigliati continued to look deadly as they kept creating chances until Roger Carvalho and Robert Acquafresca came close to equalizing in the later minutes, but both of their headers were off target.

The home team did not sit back even in the dying moments and continued to push forward. Nenad Tomovic’s shot from a very close range had to be desperately saved by Federico Agliardi on one occassion.

Bologna weren’t given much space to create any goal scoring chances and Fiorentina held on to take all three points.
