Fiorentina summer signing Borja Valero has revealed his contentment with his transfer to the Stadio Artemio Franchi from relegated Villareal.

After plying his trade in the Spanish Primera Division and England’s Premier League throughout his career, the Spain international elected to move to Serie A with the Viola despite interest from a variety of clubs, including Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.

“During the summer I received many offers, some very interesting ones, but in the end I preferred Fiorentina,” Borja explained to Spanish newspaper Marca.

“That’s because, as well as the financial aspect of the deal, I was joining a club who would allow me to express myself.

“I feel happy in Florence and the team is ideal for my characteristics – and I think I can still improve as a player.

“Serie A is a League where physicality and tactics command, but we can count on a great tactician like Vincenzo Montella.”

The former Real Madrid man has enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign with the Tuscan outfit, starting in all 7 of Fiorentina’s fixtures whilst recording 2 assists and completing 84% of his passes in the process.
