Paolo Maldini feels that all the attention given to Mario Balotelli has not helped the player in his development.

The ex-captain of AC Milan and the Italian national team spoke to RAI Sport and feels that the Manchester City star needs to be shown some veteran leadership.

‘There is an incredible amount of attention paid to Balotelli, and I don’t think it has been good for him. At AC Milan and the Azzurri the younger players and with less experience were lead by us in anything and everything.”

The 44-year-old also spoke about the current state of affairs at former club AC Milan and how things cannot still turn out positive.

“There must be firm objectives. I don’t think it is right to think that the season will be negative. It will be difficult to recover so many points from Juve.”

“The right idea is to finish as high as possible in the standings.”
