Juventus director Beppe Marotta has hit out at the team for their poorest performance of the season in their 1-0 defeat against AC Milan tonight.

The Bianconeri went down to a solitary goal loss at San Siro via a controversial goal from Robinho.

“Without the penalty, I think the game would have ended 1-0,” said Marotta. “Juventus played one of our worst games of the season and we cannot use the penalty as an excuse.

“It was definitely one of the worst performances. We must work hard to get back on our feet and improve for the next game,”

While assistant coach Angelo Alessio hinted that the midweek exertions against Chelsea in the Champions League may have contributed to the loss, Marotta refused to agree.

“At this club, Juventus must be used to competing on different fronts so playing four days after the game against Chelsea was enough time to recuperate for us.”

He was also left disappointed by the Bianconeri’s failure again to hit the back of the net and they struggled to create many clear cut chances.

Marotta said: “We have not scored for two Serie A games in a row because our opponents put us under pressure with the systems that the play and are tough to break down.”
