Napoli goalscoring hero Marek Hamsik believes that tonight’s crucial win over Cagliari will now give the whole team confidence going forward.

The Slovakian star struck with under 20 minutes remaining in Sardinia to help a Partenopei side who were without Edinson Cavani to three priceless points.

He said: “It was a very difficult game we played tonight. Cagliari made it tough for us to play and put us in a lot of difficult situations all over the field but we managed to get the win and this gives us great confidence.”

Despite being without their top scorer, Hamsik believes that they implemented coach Walter Mazzarri’s game plan perfectly.

“Of course it was difficult with Edinson Cavani missing but the main things is that we did everything the coach asked of us and in the end we managed to bring home the three points and this is all that matters.”

The win for the Vesuviani moves them to within two points of leaders Juventus at the top of Serie A.
