Pescara have confirmed that coach Giovanni Stroppa handed in his resignation after Sunday’s defeat to Siena.

Stroppa joined the club in the summer as a replacement for Zdenek Zeman, but the Delfini have struggled and are currently in a tie for the last relegation spot.

“Stroppa has decided to resign,” director Daniele Delli Carri stated.

“He no longer has the right set of mind to continue and we accepted the resignation. Now we have to reflect on the situation.”

“We didn’t expect this, despite the bad performance with responsibility must be shared between the players and the coach.”

“Nobody thought about sacking him. Today we saw Pescara’s worst performance of the season.”

“Do we have a shortlist for possible replacements? I won’t stand here listing them, as it would be inopportune and we have to meet and discuss it.”

“A resignation is unusual nowadays, but it seems there are still people out there willing to take responsibility for their mistakes.”
