Delio Rossi has denied reports that he is set to replace Zdenek Zeman as manager of Roma.

Rossi has not managed since being sacked by Fiorentina last May after striking Fiorentina stiker Adem Ljajic on the bench during the Viola’s loss to Novara.

“I have always said this and I will continue to do so: the only club that I have never been close to signing for or even having contact with is Roma.”

“Therefore I don’t understand what I must commentate on or even deny. Would I be willing to replace Zeman? Nothing ever gets done with if’s and maybe’s.”

Along with managing Fiorentina, Rossi has coached the likes of Palermo, Lazio, Atalanta, Lecce, Pescara, Genoa, Salernitana and Foggia.

He won the Coppa Italia with Lazio in 2008/09 where they defeated Sampdoria in the finals on penalties.
