Siena managed a 1-0 win over Pescara at the Stadio Franchi in Serie A on Sunday

A first half Francesco Valiani goal gave the home side the all three points in this relegation six-pointer.

In the opening stages of the game both teams traded blows, with Perin denying Rosina before was equal to a Quintero effort.

Vergassola and Calaio both had good opportunities for the home side, but Pescara’s defence were able to deny the pari.

Siena though did take the lead when Valiani hit a lovely diagonal shot which caught out Perin and sailed into the net.

Giovanni Stroppa’s men had held their own up until that point but struggled to really test Pegolo in the Siena goal.

Pescara were given a way back into that match as they were awarded a penalty towards the end of the half, but failed to take advantage as Ante Vukusic saw his spot kick saved by Pegolo.

After the break, Perin denied Rosina with an excellent save before also getting the better of a Calaio effort.

Chances become few and far between as the half wore on, but Caprari did have a shot punched away by Pegolo as Pescara tried to find an equaliser.

Perin then denied Sestu with a good block, as Siena looked to soak up the Pescara pressure.

But Pescara’s chances off getting level were dealt a blow when Capuano was sent off for a second bookable offence then six minutes later Zanon was also given his marching orders.
