You can forget about seeing Siena striker Emanuele Calaio back with the home side at the San Paolo any time soon.
Though rumored to be a possibility for the Partenopei during January’s transfer window, Siena vice-president Valentina Mezzaroma denied the rumor when speaking to Sky Sport Italia.
“Calaio will definitely stay here,” she told Sky. “These rumors are totally absurd.”
Calaio has 4 goals and 2 assists in 13 domestic appearances for Siena this season. If Calaio did in fact leave the results would be devastating for Siena.
He has accounted for 31% of Siena’s 13 total goals in Serie A this season. The next highest scorers are defender Massimo Paci, midfielder Simone Vergassola, and midfielder Francesco Valiani. They are tied with 2 goals each on the season.
Before his 2008 move to Siena from Napoli, Calaio had 2 goals in 26 domestic appearances for the Azzurri in his last season there. Last season for Siena, he had 11 goals and 1 assist in 25 domestic appearances.
