Within the past few days there have been many speculations about the January transfer window in reference to the AC Milan midfield.

With Nigel de Jong set to miss the rest of the season with a tear to his Achilles’ tendon, the Rossoneri will undoubtedly try to bring in someone to cover his post.

There was talk earlier this week that Mark van Bommel could make a return to the Diavolo, but the latest news is that he will most likely stay put at PSV Eindhoven.

Another player on the list of prospective candidates to fill in the gap left by de Jong is long-time Sampdoria man Angelo Palombo, who is said to be liked by the Rossoneri.

Before the arrival of new manager Delio Rossi, there had been comments from vice-president Edoardo Garrone that Palombo was up for sale.  Palombo hadn’t been used by Ciro Ferrara, and his time at Sampdoria seemed to be over.

However, less than a week after the appointment of Rossi it seems that Palombo could stay with the Blucerchiati.

He was put on the bench for the match against Lazio on Saturday, and Rossi spoke about the situation.

“He is a player that made history with this club,” he told the press on Friday.

“The squad has put him at my liberty, and every decision I make will be strictly technical.

“I saw a lot of motivation from him in training.”

It remains to be seen how things will shape up for each player come January, and whether or not they remain with their current clubs.
