Recent speculation has suggested that Lazio are keen to extend the contract of star man Hernanes in order to ensure a lengthy stay in the capital for the talented midfielder.

However, the Brazilian international has reportedly attracted the interest of Inter with his fantastic form, and in turn is biding his time until the Milanese giants’ intentions become clear.

Hernanes’ current deal with the Biancocelesti runs until June 2015, whilst the player’s agent has come forward this week to confirm that negotiations to lengthen the contract are not currently under way.

“I have no meeting planned with Lazio regarding a renewal,” Joseph Lee said. “Our agreement expires in 2015 and now is not the time to discuss an extension.

“Hernanes is happy in Rome, happy with his relationship with the coach and how the team is going.”

Despite this assertion of contentment, however, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Nerazzurri are planning a swoop for the silky playmaker at the conclusion of the Serie A campaign.

Lazio paid €12 million to sign the 27 year-old from Sao Paulo in the summer of 2010.
