Palermo, desperate to move out of the relegation zone, fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Fiorentina at the Renzo Barbera on Saturday.

Samir Ujkani starred saving many efforts from the Viola throughout but could do nothing to stop Stevan Jovetic’s second half brace and a Gonzalo Rodriguez goal.

Ujkani was called into action in the opening minutes when he rushed out to prevent Jovetic from hitting the back of the net when one-on-one with the Albanian.

Minutes later he was called into action again to deny the Montenegrin with a top class save.

The Rosanero goalkeeper was there once more before the break, this time denying Luca Toni from scoring against his former club.

Jovetic ensured that Ujkani would not be keeping a perhaps deserved clean sheet when he ran on to a Juan Cuadrado through ball to calmly tuck the ball home.

He doubled his own tally with seven minutes remaining when, after Toni was felled inside the box, he coolly chipped home from the spot in the style of Andrea Pirlo this past summer to wrap up the points.

They were awarded another penalty in the final minute and this time it was Rodriguez who stepped forward to compound the Sicilians’ misery and make it three.
