Pietro Lo Monaco, Sporting Director of Palermo, has publicly shown his support of Michel Platini’s view that third-party ownerships should not exist in football.

Recently, Platini stated that he believed professional footballers being owned by an outside investor should be banned from the beautiful game.

Lo Monaco told Tuttosport, “On third-party ownership, Platini is absolutely right, it is a depravity of the system.

“There has to be a law that does not allow this, but in South American countries a lot of players are owned by private groups.

“Players have to be owned solely by football clubs.”

Many agents are in opposition to this proposal, as third-party ownership allows agents to buy a stake in a player from his club and collect fees when future transfer fees are paid.

Third-party ownership bans have already been implemented in leagues such as England and France with UEFA President Michel Platini hoping to make this a global ban.
