Former Roma man and AIC President Damiano Tommasi has hit out at the players who were involved in the Calcioscommesse scandal.

Tommasi has stated that the players who were involved in the match fixing scandal have tarnished the image of Italian football.

“It is one of the lowest chapters in world football,” he told reporters. “With these events we have sent some terrible messages.

“We live in a world where the temptations and pressures are strong.

“But it can’t be justified for a lowly paid Lega Pro player, or any player, to discuss throwing a match.

“That just cannot be justified.”

Some individuals who were found guilty being part of the gang involved with fix matching are still serving lengthy bans and not to take part in any football activities.

Only a hand full had appealed and were found innocent but many weren’t so fortunate, and it remains to be seen if we shall see the likes of Giuseppe Signori or Atalanta veteran Cristiano Doni involved in Italian Football again.
