Atalanta drew 1-1 with Cagliari at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri D’italia in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

Michele Canini scored an early own goal for the Rossoblu, but Guglielmo Stendardo equalised for La Dea in the second half to earn a vital point.

In a match which started 30 minutes late because of ice in the stands, Canini gave the hosts the worst possible start as he stumbled on the ball following a Marco Sau run, and it went into his own net.

Maxi Moralez looked lively as Atalanta searched for an equaliser but his final ball was somewhat lacking, while Bonaventura had a shot well saved.

As the hosts piled on the pressure they were vulnerable on the counter attack and the pace of Victor Ibarbo was causing real issues for their defence.

La Dea started the second period well, and got their reward when Stendardo scored from a corner to level the match.

The pitch did become a little heavy as the game wore on which reduced the tempo from both sides.

Parra did have excellent chance for Atalanta, but his header went just over the bar, much to the relief of Michael Agazzi.

Luigi Giorgi was also sent off for the home side after collecting a second yellow card.

In the final stages Cagliari decided to sit back and play for the draw, leaving only Ibarbo in the opposition half. But no breakthrough could be found and both sides had to share the points.
