AC Milan coach Max Allegri is known to be fond of the Juventus striker, Alessandro Matri, who played for him once upon a time at Cagliari.

Reports are now suggesting that Allegri has pitched the idea of bringing Matri to Milan to bolster his struggling attack force.

This idea is an extension of one that began this previous summer that would have involved an exchange with Giampaolo Pazzini and Antonio Cassano, but a deal failed to materialise at the time.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is said to be trying again, as there is a void to fill with the loss of striker Alexandre Pato to Corinthians.

But recent news that Robinho will be staying with the Milanese outfit after his deal with Santos fell apart suggests that this is not an urgent endeavour.

Matri has not featured regularly for Juventus recently, experiencing a substantial dip in form from when he first moved to the Turin side. In just four starts and ten appearances, Matri has found the goal three times this season.

Juventus is unlikely to sell Matri for less than €15 million though, as these funds would be necessary for investing in the superstar striker that they have had on their wishlist for well over a year.
