Edoardo Garrone, the son of former Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone, has thanked everyone for their messages of support after his father’s funeral and urges supporters to honour him on Sunday.
Garrone was 76 when he passed away on Monday, just two days shy of his 77th birthday.
“On behalf of myself and the rest of the family, I want to thank everyone for the affection and condolences,” said Edoardo Garrone.
“On Sunday, Sampdoria will play their first game without my father. He loved Marassi when it had a festive atmosphere and would like him to be remembered with a joyous celebration.”
Edoardo now inherits the presidency following his dad’s death.
