Southampton close in on Cagliari defender

Southampton are looking to seal the transfer of Davide Astori, reports in Italy claim.

The 25-year-old seems set to leave the Sardinian side after they admitted they are in dire financial trouble.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Premier League club have offered €10 million for the central defender, but Cagliari are looking for €12 million.

Astori is said to have already agreed terms with the Saints, so once a fee is agreed the player is likely to make the move.
