The Azzurri international, talking to Sky Sport said: “I was supposed to be on the bench but then Pazzo got injured during the warm-up so I got to play instead.
“I am happy it turned out like that as I put in a good performance I feel. We are a strong team in attack although I have not played much and at the end my legs did feel heavy so I must keep working to improve my fitness levels.”
The 22-year-old knows he must build upon this good start that could have seen him grab more goals were it not for some fantastic saves from the Udinese goalkeeper.
“It is a good start but I know that now I must continue scoring goals,” said Balotelli. “We created a great deal of chances tonight but Daniele Padelli made some great saves but we deserved to win and in the end we did.”
