Cagliari’s match with AC Milan on Sunday has run into further difficulties and could be played behind closed doors.

The game was moved from the Stadio Is Arenas to the Stadio Olimpico in Torino after concerns were raised about security at the Sardinian ground, however it was later reinstated.

But, local authorities opposed to the match going ahead have launched an appeal against the decision for the game to be played at the Is Arenas.

The local prefect is still of the opinion that the safety of spectators is a problem and thus the game could be played with no fans present. There is even the possibility it could be abandoned.

A final decision is due to be made later on Saturday afternoon.
