Catania defender Nicola Legrottaglie has apologised to the public for his behaviour during his side’s 2-1 win against Parma last weekend.

He was sent off after collecting two yellow cards in the space for protesting much too vehemently against a goal by Amauri and has since acknowledged his behaviour was unacceptable.

“I was wrong and I apologise to everyone,” said the former AC Milan and Juventus centre-back. “My protests arose from a deep conviction that we had suffered a misconduct.

“However, I know that this is not a valid justification for leaving the team, the coach, the group and the club to be challenged for a well-deserved victory by leaving Catania outnumbered.

“I do not want to give that kind of message to the public and always try to spread a message of compliance of rules and of composure.”

Francesco Lodi and Keko got the goals which helped the Elefanti to the victory.
