Former AC Milan stalwart Gennaro Gattuso has been named player-manager of Swiss squad FC Sion.
The World Cup winner moved to the Swiss Super League side over the past summer at the expiry of his contract with the Italian giants.
Sion were thumped 4-0 at the weekend by Thun and now sit in fourth place, nine points behing table toppers Grasshoppers.
The club notified the public on Monday that tactician Victor Munoz would be reassigned to a scouting position, with Gattuso set to take the reigns as coach.
The decision comes in the wake of Sion having lost three of their last four matches in league play after Munoz’ hiring in January.
