A scoreless draw against 10-man Palermo on Saturday evening was good enough for Genoa manager Davide Ballardini as it sees his side inch further away from the relegation zone.

“This is a draw we can be satisfied with against a very motivated opponent,” Balladrini said to Sky in the post-match interview.

“We settled for the result in the second half, which is something that cannot be accepted as it is not a part of our way of playing.”

“We could have done better, especially when Palermo went down to 10 men, but the rain had made the pitch very heavy and it was difficult to pass cleanly.”

Although content with a point, Balladrini felt that his side at least deserved a penalty when Santiago Garcia appeared to have fouled Marco Rossi at the very end of the first half.

“To look at it now I would say it is a penalty, however, it was very difficult to spot it on the pitch at the time.”

Genoa remain unbeaten since Ballardini’s appointment four weeks ago and see themselves five points clear of the drop zone ahead of Sunday’s matches.

Palermo remain rooted to the bottom of the table, having failed to win a match since their 3-1 win over Sicilian rival Catania on November 24.
