Inter’s Alvaro Pereira has conceded that his side’s Europa League encounter with Cluj will hold special significance for him.

The Uruguayan joined the Romanian side in in July 2008 for €2.2 million, spending a year at the club before departing for Portuguese giants Porto.

“I remeber everything from that experience,” he told a press conference ahead of the match.

“It was my first European team and I will always have fond memories of them. I left behind teammates and friends in Romania, so it will be a very special game for me tomorrow.”

Pereira also commented on how he sees himself fitting into the Nerazzurri lineup.

“The important thing is to work for the team and do it in the best way possible. The change of system is not a problem for me, as I have played with a three-man defence for Uruguay and have the characteristics to play in a 4-3-3 too.”

The 27 year-old is set to start a back four for Inter when the match kicks off at 21.05 CET.
