‘El Chino’, while not always consistent during his time at San Siro, was undoubtedly one of the most gifted footballers to have played for the Nerazzurri in the past decade.
“To acclimatise to my new life at Inter, I asked Recoba for advice,” Laxalt toldCorriere dello Sport. “I asked his advice because this is a unique opportunity, playing with some of the best players in Europe and he told me that only on the field will I be able to know if I am ready.
“But I know that I will have to work up from the bottom.”
He also spoke of his heroes in football and what his hopes are for the future with the Beneamata.
“[Edinson] Cavani is fantastic, [Frank] Lampard, Xavi and Andres Iniesta are my idols but at Inter, I’ll be your Recoba and hopefully I can play in the Champions League.”
Meanwhile, Recoba himself remains busy, the 36-year-old having scored directly from a corner during his Nacional side’s 3-1 win over Argentinos Juniors at the weekend.
