Catania boss Rolando Maran could not hide his joy after seeing his side take home another victory, this time a 1-0 result over Bologna.

The Sicilians have all but secured safety in the top flight for next season, and Maran admits they are setting their sights on European qualification.

“Today there was reason to celebrate after achieving safety in mid-February,” the 49-year-old told Sky Sport.

“The president has raised the bar, and rightly so in order to motivate us, but we are aware that we can continue to play like this and make the fans and ourselves continue to dream about reaching a goal that remains difficult.”

“We must become more consistent and better ourselves through work because we can achieve things that we would have never thought of achieving.”

“I am doing well here, we are having an extraordinary season and I am only thinking about that and not my future. I only want to continue dreaming with this squad.”

“My side and Montella’s are two different squads even if they have a lot of the same players. Different, not better or worse.”

“Almiron? He is a great player and a great lad, it is difficult for me to understand why he never made it at a big club.”
