After missing out on Sampdoria’s proficient striker Mauro Icardi in January, Napoli have ruled out joining a bidding war for the youngster in the summer.

Napoli made a €12 million bid last month, but were unable to solidify a deal for Icardi. Now it looks like Inter are in pole position to sign the striker and bring him to the San Siro for just over €15 million.

Napoli have declared the club will not be drawn into a bidding war for Icardi, and sporting director Riccardo Bigon recently stated, “I don’t know what his agents are doing, but we will not be involved in any auction.

“We have our market strategies and we’re keeping to them.”

Recent reports have linked Icardi with an almost done deal with Inter, however, it looks like the player has yet to make a definite decision.

The 19-year old is getting his first extended run of senior team football this season, and has scored eight goals in 18 games.
