Roma end association with Zeman

Roma have parted company with coach Zdenek Zeman in the past few moments after an emergency meeting at the club headquarters this morning.

The situation seemed almost inevitable after the humiliating 4-2 defeat against Cagliari at the Olimpico last night in which the fans were quick to voice their disgust at the team’s performance.

There were also banners featured on the curva telling the Czech coach to leave and this morning that wish has been fulfilled.

The Giallorossi’s technical director Aurelio Andreazzoli has taken over first team matters on a temporary basis until a permanent replacement can be found.

Alberto De Rossi and Alberto Malesani have both been linked with the job.

Zeman leaves the club in 8th place in Serie A and one game away from a Coppa Italia final against Lazio but despite this, Zemanlandia has run its course in the capital.

Had to happen at some point. Roma need to end the experiments of the past couple of seasons and focus on the fundamentals. I wonder how different things might have been if they had held on to Montella a couple of years ago.
