Sampdoria boss Delio Rossi will be offered a new deal only if the team continues to make progress, says new club president Edoardo Garrone.

The 52 year-old was brought in as a replacement for the sacked Ciro Ferrara in December and has since led the Genoa-based side to pick up 15 of the last 27 points on offer in Serie A.

However, Rossi was given a contract running only until June upon his hiring, though it did include an option for a one year extension.

“We’ve spoken about a renewal,” Garrone stated. “However, we’ve both decided that it may be better to meet up again when we have a few more points on the board.”

Speculation suggests that if kept aboard, Rossi will be handed an agreement tying him to the Blucerchiati until 2015.
The Marassi outfit currently sit in tenth place in the standings, 11 points clear of the relegation spots, and will take on Parma on Sunday.
