Siena president believes in survival

Siena president Massimo Mezzaroma has delivered another rallying cry to his club, saying he believes they can remain in Serie A.

The Robur currently sit four points off safety although would be outside the relegation places were it not for their six point deduction.

Mezzaroma said when speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport: “We can stay in Serie A. We need to make Sundays in Siena exciting with football and basketball but we must stay in the top flight or there could be financial problems.

“That would mean it could be a different future that the club faces. Can we survive though? Yes, I am certain but only under certain conditions.”

Those conditions which the man in charge at the Montepaschi could be referring to an attempt by the club to have their point deficit overturned, as Napoli did.

The sentences handed out to Terzi and Vitiello were reduced this week meaning the case surrounding Genoa and Siena may well be reopened.
