Fiorentina were the big winners in Day Two of the Viareggio Cup 2013 with an 8-2 win over Danish side B 93 Copenhagen.

The Danes did start the game in impressive fashion and took the lead through Ilir Memeti, before doubling their advantage ten minutes later with Mikkel grabbing the goal.

But this merely proved to wake La Viola up as they hit three before half time, then five in the second period to blow the visitors away.

Federico Bernardeschi was the star of the show as he helped himself to a hat-trick.

In another of the day’s big games, AC Milan took on English side Newcastle United and came out 2-1 winners, though life was not made easy for the Rossoneri.

Milan took the lead early on as Bryan Cristante scored thanks to quick thinking from a set piece. The midfielder turned out to be the star of the show as he dominated in the middle of the park.

Jonathyn Quinn for the Magpies was causing Milan’s defence a few problems, but they doubled their lead on 19 minutes thanks to Alex Pedone. But just after half time Quinn bagged what was a consolation for Newcastle.

Last season’s beaten finalists Roma got off to a good start as they overcame Spartak Moscow 3-0 with Romanian playmaker Claudiu Bumba bagging a brace in the process. Fellow Romans Lazio also got a 3-0 win, with Red Star the victims of the Biancocelesti as Balde Diao Keita got two to help his team to victory.

Elsewhere, Empoli’s 3-0 win over Conga U17 was delayed as the visiting side had left their documents in the team hotel. Roberto Insigne, brother of Lorenzo, starred for Napoli as they overcame Hoved 2-0, while Spezia won 4-1 against the American side Long Island. Atalanta scored a goal in each half to defeat Macedonian side Belasica Strumica.

Meanwhile, there were also good wins for Siena, Lecce, and Juve Stabia.
