Palermo’s fiery owner Maurizio Zamparini believes new coach Alberto Malesani is the right man to save the club from Serie B, while hinting that Gian Piero Gasperini was losing control of the situation.

This is Palermo’s third coach of the season after Gasperini took over from Giuseppe Sannino in September, but Zamparini still believes they can avoid the drop to Serie B.

“I chose Malesani because he provides me with a lot of hope and because of his past feats,” Zamparini told Itasportpress.

“He is a coach that saved Bologna with three matches remaining and he arrived here with a lot of enthusiasm.”

“Gasperini was a poor depressed man for a lot of reasons. Perinetti on the other hand will provide us with a lot of serenity in a place that is very agitated. Today I was insulted by 40 people that were sent by someone who does not love Palermo.”

“Why did I sack Lo Monaco? When I pay a director he must be a director and not the president, I am that.”

“We are not Catania. Everything would have been ok if he controlled everything and we weren’t in last place.”

“I hope that the Argentinians that Lo Monaco brought here do well as I don’t know them.”

“I will continue to lead this club even if people in other spheres have not understood my commitment. Anyways, we will not go to Serie B.”
